Project Summary
Located in the San Gabriel Valley, the Site was once one of the largest plating facilities in Southern California. Working for a bona-fide prospective purchaser, Murex quickly evaluated a significant amount of historical documentation during a brief due diligence period to support the client’s acquisition of the property out of bankruptcy and to support negotiations with DTSC and USEPA in order to enter into a voluntary oversight agreement.

The project became a public-private partnership as the City of El Monte was a major supporter, having dealt for years with blight and vandalism at this aging Brownfield site. Murex developed a plan with the new owner to satisfy due care responsibilities, identify and assess data gaps, protect public health, and perform remediation under the oversight of a governing agreement with USEPA that included a robust public participation campaign.
